Every month we hold a Style Guide Challenge where we ask our amazing curator's to build collections around a common theme. This month's theme was all about Fall Color, which was inspired by Pantone's Fall 2013 color palette. The challenge was entitled A Riot of Color or Just a Pop, where the challenge was to either go crazy with color or go neutral with just a hint of color. The winner of our challenge becomes our Guest Stylist on Pinterest the following month where they get to show off their individual style and share with your their favorite finds throughout the internet.
Incite a Riot was a play off of our Just a Pop theme. Jenn took a monochromatic palette and infused it with a riot of color with just one colorful image.

Cinne went the opposite direction of Jenn with Pop Color Riot. Her bold and colorful palette uses some of the colors of the season like koi, turbulence and deep rich yellow.

Helen played up a variety of neutrals like lichen and camel, but all with a shiny metallic element, in Metallic Neutrals.

As this was a challenge, we have to have a winner, someone who really captured the feeling of this seasons Fall Colors. Our winner is Kim of Semi Sweet Studios! Her collection entitled, Pantone 19-4215: Turbulence, focused on the deep gray tone for this season.
See you next month for our next style guide challenge!
Autumnal Equinox, Goodbye to Summer
In this time of year we celebrate the warm colors, the oranges, reds, and golds that remind us of the warmth of the sun as the days and nights are tinged with a nip of frost. Our talented team of curators at Elitesixteen has been hard at work creating beautiful autumnal themed shopping guides to help you bring a touch of the season into your wardrobe and home.

Each month, we gather together to host what we call, a Style Guide Challenge. We come up with a relevant theme for the season and ask our stylists to create collections not only to showcase the amazing finds on Etsy, but also their incredible style as well.
We realize that Etsy is a crowded place, full of unbelievable finds, but sometimes it's just a bit hard to sort through all of them. That's where we come in! We create mini shopping guides to help you shop more easily. This month we are helping you shop the latest fall color trends with our Pantone Fall Color Challenge, A Riot of Color or Just a Pop.
Are you ready to start shopping?
Fall 2013 || Color Focus: Turbulence
Revving up for Fall? It all starts with the right accessories and color palette. Using Pantone's colors as I guide, I am exploring each color with some of my favorite finds from Etsy. This color focus is all about Turbulence or what I like to call a dark and stormy gray. I think every season needs a good gray as a neutral and this one is perfect for fall since it's a deep tone and mixes very well with acai, koi, and vivacious. Do you see turbulence in your future?

Fall 2013 || Color Focus: ACAI
It's finally here, well almost here at least officially. I am talking about Fall/Autumn or whatever you may call it. I've said this many times before but it is my absolutely favorite season of the year with Spring being number two. With the new season comes new and fun colors to explore. Pantone has released it's fall color palette and I am going to be sharing my favorite items on Etsy that show off these fabulous fall colors. First up is Acai, a deep purple, which always seem to be a hallmark of fall fashion.

Take the Silk Road this Fall!
Is fall in the air where you live? You know, cooler temps at night and a crispness that carries a slightly smokey texture to it? Autumn is a time of transition as we change from the season of bright sunshine and lazy days at the beach to layered clothing and the fall foliage. Colors are more saturated and earth centered - that's why this silk road trend is such a hit this fall! Our team of curators have been putting together these Eastern influenced themed based shopping guides to help get you on trend. What better way to shop Etsy than with a beautifully curated, hand selected guide of items so you don't have to search through thousands of items! We do the hard work for you and we think you'll love the rich textures and colors found in our Silk Road Shopping Guides! Enjoy!

Friday Etsy Favorites - Agate
I maybe could have filed this under Design Crush, but it's Friday and I'm in love with agate. I really don't see it is a trend because agate has been around forever, literally. Alas, I know it is a trend as they now have fake agate coasters at Target, but it's one that will never go out of style in my opinion.
I am the proud owner of a similar agate slice with it's own personal wooden holder designed by Lauren of Stone + Violet. I love the unique colors of these agate necklaces from Simon and Ruby. Agate + gold = awesome coasters by Kirahley Kreations. There's no better place to display some of your favorite design books with these bookends from Alex Marie Design. I have a soft spot for natural curiosities like fossils, feathers and stones so agate is a no brainer. Are you in love with agate?
Design Crush || Modern Pendant Lights
I am currently building a home and so my head is currently full of design ideas. Trying to figure out the stain for the wood floors, the perfect countertops that won't be dated ten years from now ( are there any?), and a cabinet style I won't regret. I feel so lucky to be getting to choose all these things for the whole house, that also includes all the design elements, like pendant lights.
I am not a crystal chandelier kind of person, I like my home design elements simple, modern and classic . I really love pieces that have an organic feel and geometric shapes. When building a house it's important to find those design pieces that really make it your home and a perfect way to do that is with your lighting. Here are a few samples of my favorite pendant lights on Etsy. Maybe some of these will end up in my new home. What's your favorite?

Friday Favorites from Etsy
One thing I love about Etsy is that you never know what you are going to find. I enjoy finding new shops or artists and so I decided to share with you some of my recent favorite finds. I am in this metallic mood, so I have been drawn to gold leafed or items finished in gold or brass like this spotted gold leaf vessel by the object enthusiast or these geometric trays by the vintage vogue. I love soap and I love giving it as gifts so these beautifully wrapped ones from Amumii Naturals would be perfect. I've already shared my love of all things dipped so I am drawn to everything in the Jac and Jill shop, but these Shibori tie dye pillows in this lattice pattern is so me! I hope you have enjoyed my new finds and hopefully found something you love, too.

The event of every Summer is hands down the 4th of July. The quintessential 4th celebration includes at least one of the following: a long weekend, barbecue and/or grilling out, picnic's, road trips, family, fireworks and the stars and stripes. My favorite 4th's have always been spent with my family, usually outside with some sparklers and good food.
To get you prepped for the upcoming festivities I picked out some fun red, white and blue finds. How will you celebrate this year?

Design Crush || Dippity do dah yay!
Do you love the dipped trend? First let me explain what "dipped" is all about. The color dip trend is when you take an object and make it look like it's been dipped in paint. I first started noticing it in the Spring of 2012 and it's slowly started to expand. The first pieces that caught my eye were furniture with dipped legs, then it spread to wooden kitchen utensils, jewelry and now hair. It's kind of mix of a few trends ( ombre + color blocking + neon). I think it's fun and if you are scared of bright and trendy colors then just a dip will do. I really love when items are dipped in metallics like silver or gold. What's your current design crush?

Now that Summer is just around the corner it's time to freshen up your home and wardrobe. There is no other color that feels more summery to me than white. I know that white can sound boring, but pair it up with anything and it looks fabulous. Don't forget that there are lots and lots of shades of white, just look at just the five that I picked out. Having a shop on Etsy is like a gateway into your own personal style. Everything you do with your shop from photographs, to your shop banner, your product descriptions, and what you sell is all about you. That also holds true for the collections or treasuries we create. Creating a 16 item treasury is a fun way to show off our style. This month I am spotlighting Charlotte of the Vintage Vogue. Her own personal style is vintage modern and she loves to create things of beauty, simplicity and craft. Take a look at her shop and then check out her curated collections. You won't be disappointed by her amazing eye for style!

Our May Etsy Style Guide Challenge Winner IS...

This month our theme was "Are you ready for Summer?" We wanted to see how creative our curators could be and they didn't disappoint. Choosing a winner never gets easy, but this natural + textural collection by Grace of Etsy shop Trees 4 the Wood, won us both over. With a neutral color palette the textures of the collection just draw you in with a beautifully earthy mix. Congratulations Grace on such a stunning collection!

We had over 80 Style Guide submissions this month and we love to see how each person interpret's our theme. Even though we can only have one winner, we love to share with you some of our favorite collections from the challenge.
What is more summer-like than bees + flowers? It's just one of those combinations that makes you think of summer in the garden or strolling through a park. I think Karo of Karo Art pulled it all together just perfectly. When I am working in the garden I love listening to the hum of the bees as the move from flower to flower. This collection really feels like a true slice of Summer.

This collection by Kelly of 88editions, night blooming jasmine, has a really special meaning to me. I don't know if you have ever smelled jasmine at night, but it's my absolute favorite smell in the world. The variety of jasmine I have blooms from early May until the end of June. When I first smelled it on a trip to Florida I knew that I had to place it in the new garden I was building. It starts to come alive around dusk and the smell is enchanting. This collection really makes me excited about Summer and reminds of the wonderful nights spent outside with friends and family.
I am not yet lucky enough to have my own Summer cottage, but with Jill of Be Something New's sweet collection, I feel like I do. Don't you just want to pack up the car and drive until you get to a cottage that looks like this? Just add a hammock, some lemonade and some R and R. Are you ready?

Everything in this collection is just plain pretty. You want to look at every little detail and they all work so well together. I just love the idea of putting a fresh flower in your hair, it's so Summer Chic. Maria of O Bliss Jewellery really captured the essence of Summer.

As a tradition, we always highlight a collection by the talented Jenn of Palimpsestic. She always has amazing style, titles, whimsy, well just about everything when it comes to putting together a fabulous treasury. This month she did not disappoint! First of all, the title is perfect and then it does make you feel like you are looking at a daydream of Summer, with a nod to camping and being in the great outdoors. Well done Jenn!
