Back to School - Adorn Yourself!

There are many different angles to take on how to prepare for going back to school.  The common theme here is "new", right?  Even if you like to shop at consignment shops, it's "new" to you.  Sure, not all of us are getting ready to head on back to classroom 408 in Dexter Hall for Advanced Calculus and yet that feeling of getting new outfits for the start of the school year stays with us.  Today, I'm taking a look at some jewelry options for the fall.  Colors start to transition to warmer tones and away from the sunlight juiciness of summer.  Jewelry is really a year round favorite and is something you can enjoy everyday!  

So, even if you're not going back to school, you can give yourself permission to splurge on some new outfits and dress it up with handmade jewelry from Etsy!

Friday Etsy Favorites - Agate

I maybe could have filed this under Design Crush, but it's Friday and I'm in love with agate.  I really don't see it is a trend because agate has been around forever, literally.  Alas, I know it is a trend as they now have fake agate coasters at Target, but it's one that will never go out of style in my opinion.

 I am the proud owner of a similar agate slice with it's own personal wooden holder designed by Lauren of Stone + Violet. I love the unique colors of these agate necklaces from Simon and Ruby. Agate + gold = awesome coasters by Kirahley Kreations.  There's no better place to display some of your favorite design books with these bookends from Alex Marie Design. I have a soft spot for natural curiosities like fossils, feathers and stones so agate is a no brainer. Are you in love with agate?

Etsy Summer :: Geometric Jewels

Geometrics are a year round favorite for me.  Since it's still summer and I have yet to pull out anything closely related to wool - I am all about getting some new jewelry to wear!  Summer is pretty much the quintessential time to show off some new jewels on that bare skin.  Hopefully, not real pale skin - you do want to have some color to offset the pasty whiteness of winter.  I've put together some of my Etsy jewelry favorites with a focus on geometric shapes.  I would be quite happy with any of these beautiful handmade items, but most happy if I had them all!

Ready to go GEOmetric this summer?

Geometric designs are a year round favorite for me.  There's no seasonal limit to when you can enjoy these fun shapes, patterns and designs.  Summer just seems to bring out the playful side of geometrics and you can really get away with mixing it up!  Are you bold enough to step outside of the solid colors and have a little fun?  I'm always up for FUN!  As you may already know, I'm a big fan of layering and I don't shy away from combining squares up against circles and triangles.  Why not?  My summer geometric favs today follow a very lose color scheme and really push the mixing and matching idea!

My trendy favorite right now is Rose Gold.  I really don't consider it a trend as I have had my eye on it for awhile and I also don't think it is going away any time soon.  We all have seen rose gold jewelry, but it's popping up in clothing and home accessories.  I love it paired with soft gray and cream.  I also love it because it feels so modern.  How about you?

This Summer - Go Bohemian Chic!

Is the sun shining where you're at today?  Tomorrow is June 1st and although we've had what seems like weeks of cold and rainy weather in Maine - I am so ready for sun, shades, and shorts!  This summer, I'm thinking of funking things up with earrings.  I'm going for a cool and chilled out look with tight t-shirts and jeans.  Along with my favorite flip flops and topping off my look with some bold earrings.  Can you picture it?  I'm loving the shapes and colors of these earrings here - they all have a Bohemian flair to them and would fit my summer look with perfection!

Brass.  Golden and earthy - I'm diggin' it!  Lately, I've really been into brass tones and the warmth of of this metal's color.  With a darker edge than gold, brass has a natural feel and goes great with a look that is modern, yet fluid and easy.  Perfect for those who want to dress up their decor with a pop of golden tones or those who want to add the richness of brass to their accessories.  I've been playing with brass toned accessories for some new summer outfits - linen pants, light t-shirt and some geometric brass earrings make for an organic look!

Based out of sunny Queensland, Australia, Maria of O Bliss Jewellery creates unique pieces from recycled sterling silver. She got hooked after taking a silversmith class and from there O Bliss was born.   Working out of a spare room in her home, she creates amazing handcrafted art for you to wear. I really love how she plays with different geometric shapes and her finished product is so unique. She also has found through her shop a love of photography which is evident in her unique + moody images which play with light and shadow beautifully.  I hope you have time to explore her shop, you won't be disappointed!
